UNPLUG AND TUNE IN
Today's technology conditions us to expect quick and immediate results while tuning out our surroundings. We're impatient and our communication has dwindled to quick bursts while we're trying to multitask. We're overbooked, overworked and over-obligated.
Today, try slowing down. Put away the phone, put down the laptop and engage with someone. Listen. Make eye contact. Buy someone a cup of coffee. Let someone go ahead of you in line. Brighten your day - and someone else's - with a simple gesture that shows you're aware and in-tune. Kindness begets kindness. Pass it on.
DAILY QUOTE“Do something today that your future self will thank you for.” — Anonymous

Tonight, close the blinds! Dance alone, dance with your kids, dance with your partner or with a friend. Turn up your favorite music and get moving.

BE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR CIRCLE
Strong ties to community and a close-knit circle of family and friends are key indicators of personal happiness and fulfillment. Christine Carter, Ph.D. and author of Raising Happiness wrote, “There is no stronger predictor of happiness than how robust and positive our village is.”
Show appreciation for someone in your circle today. Write them to say how grateful you are to have them in your life. It's these small acts of gratitude that strengthen ties even more.

MAKE TIME FOR YOU
It's time for some YOU time! The most important person you need to love and care for is yourself. Give yourself a break from family, work, obligations and errands. Check out from daily life for a while and simply focus on yourself and your own needs.
Block off 30 minutes this week for yourself. This time is yours to do as you please. Make a cup of tea, listen to your favorite music, pick up a good book or take a bubble bath. Pamper yourself and know that ME time is essential for overall health and happiness.
DAILY QUOTE“People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering.” — St. Augustin
with the weather not looking good today... last night I did get a chance to sit & stitch for awhile. I hope to do more of the same this evening.
thia is one thing I do have a problem with & it is takiing time out for myself & myself only. TO me it doesn't feel right to take time out for just me, however- that idea is fading qucikly. If I don't take care of myself, who will?

CHECK IN
It is said that we have four selves - physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual - that reflect our human existence as a whole. When our four selves are in sync, we find emotional balance, peace of mind, and a state of happiness. For the next two minutes, check in with each of your selves and ask them what they need from you today. With practice, this check-in will help to stabilize your emotions, discipline your mind, and open your heart.
Click on the meditation quadrant, close your eyes and check in with each of your selves. After two minutes a meditation bell will sound. After the bell, write down what each self asked of you today.

SLEEP FOR SUCCESS
Sleep is vital for our overall wellbeing. The National Sleep Foundation recommends seven to nine hours of sleep a night, but many people only sleep six hours. Sleep deprivation has been linked to depression and attention deficit disorder. In order to prepare your body for a good night's sleep, it's important to prepare your mind before bed.
Plan to turn off the TV and shut down the computer at least half an hour before you go to bed tonight. Quiet your mind and prepare your body for rest. Learn about how to promote restful sleep in this video about insomnia from the Mayo Clinic, on GaiamTV.com.

HYDRATE FOR HAPPINESS
Just like a car, your body is a machine that needs fluids to operate efficiently. In fact, your body is more than 60% water, and even one night's sleep can lead to dehydration. Dehydration is linked to a multitude of serious conditions, including depression. Simply put, when you're well hydrated, you feel better and you function better.
Tomorrow morning, rehydrate and improve your health all at once. Skip the coffee and start a new morning ritual with lemon water. Mix a glass of warm water with the juice of half a lemon. This simple elixir gives your body a powerful boost for the day

JUST BREATHE
When was the last time you noticed your breath? We inhale an average of 17 times per minute, yet most of us simply breathe without a second thought. When you bring your focus to the breath, you improve the quality of your breathing, which improves oxygen intake. An increase of oxygen has been linked to heightened mental clarity, stress reduction, and a general sense of well-being.

EMBRACE THE STRUGGLE
Tough times are also times of growth. Often, we meet difficulties with frustration and anger. If we embrace the struggle with acceptance and joy, we benefit and learn from its lessons.
After a near-death experience, Hollywood film director Tom Shadyac struggled through a long and painful recovery. Instead of wallowing in his sorrows, Tom turned his suffering into an opportunity for growth. With the help of today's greatest thinkers, he embarked on a journey to answer two rarely asked questions: what's wrong with our world and what can we do about it? Watch Tom's inspiring documentary, I AM, and explore the struggles, hardships - and joys - of what it means to be human.
DAILY QUOTE“It is clear that we must embrace struggle. Every living thing conforms to it. Everything in nature grows and struggles in its own way, establishing its own identity, insisting on it at all cost, against all resistance.” — Rainer Maria Rilke
seems like its all a struggle to me.

Laymans Ten
My good friend Marl sent this in an email to me thought I would share.
Loves me
Layman's Ten . . . . . . .
Someone has written these beautiful words.
Must read and try to understand the deep meaning of it.
They are like the ten commandments to follow in life all the time.
1. Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble,
but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout.
2. So why is a car's windshield so large and the rear view mirror so small?
Because our past is not as important as our future.
So, look ahead and move on.
3. Friendship is like a book. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes
years to write.
4. All things in life are temporary. If it's going well, enjoy it, that won't
last long. If it's going badly, don't worry, that won't last long either.
5. Old friends are gold! New friends are diamonds! If you get a
diamond, don't forget the gold! Because to hold a diamond, you
always need a base of gold!
6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end,
God smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a
bend, not the end!"
7. When God solves your problems, you have faith in His abilities;
when God doesn't solve your problems, He has faith in your
abilities.
8. A blind person asked St. Anthony, "Can there be anything worse
than losing eye sight?" He replied, "Yes, losing your vision!"
9. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them;
sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that
someone has prayed for you.
10. Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles, it takes
away today's peace.

RELAX & REBOOT
Stress leads to tension around the head, neck and shoulders - not to mention a foul mood. To bring natural relief, craniosacral therapists often use still point therapy, a ground-breaking method of rebooting the body's nervous system. In addition to the physical results, practitioners have reported a general increased feeling of happiness and wellness after only a few treatments.
With your hand, apply pressure to the back of your upper and lower neck. Keep the pressure on those areas for 30 seconds while breathing deeply. Now, reboot your brain. Watch Robert M. Williams, M.A. explain how to free your mind from self-defeating habits in the "Healing Matrix".

We want help you have a sick-free 2013! Start by eliminating one unhealthy food from your diet this week. Expert nutritionist David Wolfe will inspire you in today's video to boost your health by injecting power foods into your body.

what is she thinking?
I bet this is what u are all wondering after all these posts.
well I am kind of using my blog as a journal & a storage facility. lol
The links with all the differnet pattern/ ideas to make things so It will be easier for me to find. plus it will be a whole lot greenier to do it this way. I have printed off soOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many patterns etc. & some of those will never be completed, must less used-but I do recycle the paper. ( we actually use the other side of the paper before recycling- so it is throughly used)
Also the journalling - so to speak, its in black & white so I have no excuse not to lose this weight & keep it off.
SOmethings I just like sharing with all of you .
I hope to continue with all thee updates & as I see somethings I like I will share with you all.
Have a great weekend.

Day 3 Connect2 happiness
BOOST YOUR ENDORPHINS
Could exercise be the best drug to beat the blues? Research shows that regular exercise offers a sense of accomplishment, opportunity for social interaction, releases feel-good endorphins, and boosts self-esteem.
DAILY QUOTE“Make sure that you enjoy whatever type of exercise you choose to do — you'll stick with it longer! Remember that you're only competing against yourself; don't compare yourself to others.” — Allie Del Rio
to start with I am going to try & excerise at least 30 min a day. It may be walking or yoga.
Then I can get into more excersises along the way .
To keep it from being routine or getting bored.
maybe I can get in the pool & do some laps too.

DAY 2 connect to happiness
GET GROUNDED
Direct contact with the ground connects us with the natural electrical energy of the earth's surface. Recharge and replenish your body by getting barefoot! Stand tall in the grass, the sand, the snow, or wherever you are…wiggle your toes, and feel the solid foundation of your feet on the earth. Physically, mentally and emotionally gauge how you're feeling before and afterward; the difference will surprise you.
DAILY QUOTE“We are all connected; to each other, biologically. To the earth, chemically. To the rest of the universe, atomically.” — Neil deGrasse Tyson
love being barefooted in the spring & summer

DAY 1 connect to happiness
STOP. LOOK. LISTEN.
When we take a moment to listen to our inner guide, we get clues that can lead us down the path toward true happiness. Choosing what makes us feel happy over what makes us feel safe can take us out of our comfort zone; yet when we connect our passions with our actions, we stop seeking and start living. Find your joy: listen to yourself, and take action.
Start a conversation with your inner guide. Ask yourself these three questions, and listen closely to the answers.
1) What makes you happy?
2) What are you passionate about?
3) How can you bring more of that into your life?
connect 2 happiness http://www.connect2happiness.net/day1.php
I signed up for this & thought I would share in my journey.
30 days to a happier you.
My answers to the above questions:
1) stitching,
for the most part my family
cooking,
gardening/working in the yard
2)breast cancer
my family
3)I need to stitch daily anytime I am just sitting in front of the TV- I need to be working with my hands. knitting too or just plain crafting.
I would like to start my own craft business this year, sell what I make.
I would like to do a family game night each month or every 2 weeks. getting together with family & friends
