I hope this finds everyone doing well. I hope those of you getting ALL the snow are safe. Here in NC we are getting just rain, now colder temps & really windy, however our mountain counties r seeing the snow.
but this weekend they are calling for 60 degree weather. who hoooo can't wait. I have to say I am really ready for spring.. just so I can get outside & work. we have someone coming to trim our trees this week(this hasn't been done in more than 10 years). & hopefully they will remove the holly bushes(without much diffucilty) in front of the house as well, those bushes are just hateful.
We have a little section out front that when 2 of the bushes are removed it is going to become my rose garden as well as planting my Iris & other 'bulb' plants & lilly's there as well. I need to prune up some azalea bushes- but it has to warm up first, before any major clipping goes on. my rose bushes are putting out new growth has me a little worried. I may have to cover them on colder nights
Considering that for the past 2 years I have not been able to have a garden or even get outside & do yard work. I am chopping at the bit to get back to it. 2011- was because of breast cancer & radiation treatments, 2012 because of the hystercomy.
not getting sidelined this year.. got to have fresh veggies in the garden. esp now that memaw has passed. the past 2 years she keep me in fresh tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash even cabbage. So I have to do for myself again this year. Nobody ( in the family) cans & gardens like me & memaw.
I'll never forget the year my uncle bobby planted corn for her... & harvested it all at one time. she gave us all (that helped a dozen ears of corn). Then we shucked, silked & washed then cut corn for 3 days or more. Plus cooking on top of that -- we ran out of containers to use & had to use ziploc bags. We put up more than 80 quarts of corn-- remember would of been more- if she hadn't give us at least 10 dozen ears away.
oh the memories...
SO I get to go shopping for new bushes sometime soon!!!!!!! yeah
GREAT NEWS: on Kathy(my sis-in-law)
she had a PET scan done on Sat got the results yesterday... the cancer is almost gone- not showing up except for a few spots on her spine(T10,L4), illica bone & her pelvic bone. the biggest spot was1.2 cm. THe biggest spot 1.2CM-- this was completley covering her skeltal system including her brain(no traces in her brian either).
so the McSwain family has been truely blessed.
now if we could get the kids to behave lol
Colton is growing by leaps & bounds. He is crawling better now, still not quite right, but he can get to where he wants to go. but put him in his walker & he is gone.. he will be walking before to long.
Keeping him on the weekends- cuts down on my crafty time, but it is so worth it.
thats a little about what has been going on lately at our house... more to come..
LOVES Rhonda
